LONDON DAY 7 / PARIS DAY 1
Date : 1st December 2014
St Pancras King's Cross St (London) - Eurostar Train to Paris - Paris Gare Du Nord Station - Villiers Metro Station (Where my hotel is) - Lunch - Saint-Germain-des-Prés - Louvre
To be honest.... Paris is not like what I've expected it would be.
I found it kinda....dull.
Maybe because I really hate my hotel. :(
It feels so much like the Annabelle movie?!?
Do you know the scene where the main character took the lift and the lift door just wouldn't close.
She was at the basement or something and it was like scary and dark?
It was the EXACT SAME THING I see when the lift door to my floor/the lobby opens.
Okay mine is doesn't even have lighting, AT ALL.
So it's more of this :
Now thinking back I dont even understand why was I so freaking brave to sleep there for 2 nights and the room is quite creepy also with this scary looking window which I will definitely see when I lie down and sleep. T.T
The hotel I stayed in : Pavillon Villiers Étoile
:(
Okay back to the trip.
Time check : 0600 London
I re-packed my luggage and stupid me didn't know I need to reach 45 mins before the train departs =.=
And so..... I missed my train.
But Eurostar was super nice to replace my ticket to the next train for freeee :D
Yaayyyyy kudos to Eurostar (:
Sorry if the pics are blurry because I was walking while taking the photos.
A bit paiseh if I stop to take when everyone behind was walking towards their cabin :P
My fellow passenger :D
Wheeeee off we go~
After about 2-3 hours of train ride..
I took the metro to my hotel located at Metro St : Villiers
As I will be in Paris for 3 days, I bought the Paris Visite Pass Zone 1-3.
I find this more worth it than purchasing individual tickets.
I paid about 20 Euros for 3 days Zone 1-3 pass as compared to each one-way individual ticket that costs 1.70 Euros.
The number of train rides to and fro any station within Zone1-3 is unlimited :D
Reached the street towards my hotel and recced around.
No pictures of my hotel because I really don't like it.
Do google it for more info ya!
I paid $420 for my hotel for 2 nights and train tickets to and fro London.
Checked in my hotel and then headed to this shopping district Saint-germain-des-prés.
Nearest metro station is the Saint-germain-des-prés Metro.
Time check : 1200
My "shopping spree" ended in 30 minutes -.-
There wasn't anything much except for some brands which I don't really fancy and the streets look pretty empty.
Please watch out for my video log for more info.
Was feeling kinda hungry so settled down at some cafe for lunch.
And look at that huge serving!
I didn't touch the bread and barely ate half of my pasta.
Lesson learnt - just grab a sandwich. :(
Total damage : 15 Euros
Time check - 1400
After lunch, I took a metro and slow walk to The Louvre to see Mona Lisa :D
The metro station to get off at : Louvre - Rivoli
The inside of Louvre! :D
It's like a mall to me?!?
Then there's the exhibition hall where you see the exhibits within the mall.
The Louvre :
(Taken from wikipedia)
" The Louvre or the Louvre Museum (French: Musée du Louvre, pronounced: [myze dy luvʁ]) is one of the world's largest museums and a historic monument. A central landmark of Paris, France, it is located on the Right Bank of the Seine in the 1st arrondissement (district). Nearly 35,000 objects from prehistory to the 21st century are exhibited over an area of 60,600 square metres (652,300 square feet). The Louvre is the world's most visited museum, and received more than 9.7 million visitors in 2012"
When purchasing a ticket, do produce your passport as they have discounted prices for tourists.
If I remember correctly, it is 8.50 Euros :D
The Mona Lisa!
Hehe got a photo with her.
But honestly, many are telling me this is the fake one? :(
Like they hide the real one somewhere because it is too precious.
#tellmeaboutit
Super gorgeous!
:D
The night view of the museum!
Looks a bit like the lightning going to strike me hor :P
Time check : 2000
Back to the street nearby my hotel to grab some drinks/snacks before heading back to rest..
The husband sent me photos of Cookie after his fur-cut hehe.
I remembered missing them so much I teared xP
His "stay-stay" move~~~~
PARIS DAY 2
Date : 2nd December 2014
Musee D'orsay - Rue Cler - Eiffel Tower - Champs Elysees (Christmas Market)
To me this day was the most fulfilling.
I got to see Eiffel Tower and went to the Christmas Market, that was great to me.
Time check : 0800
Headed out to have breakfast at my favourite cafe down the street of my hotel.
Had a warm cup of latte along with crispy yummy crossiant :D
Hehe drink 1 coffee also take so many #selfies :P
After my meal, out to Musee D'orsay!
Took a metro : line 12, to Solférino
The metro here doesn't announce their stations so please be super alert while taking it!
Best part is one station to another is really super fast, like 1 minute or max 2-3 minutes!
Reached :D
I thought this mirror was really artistic!
While walking to Musee D'Orsay...
Arc De Triomphe look-a-like again?!?
I really want to #ootd on the streets but I was afraid of getting robbed T.T
The beautiful statues outside Musee D'orsay!
:D
I know these entries are like #selfies-loaded but I travel alone ma.
So must make sure I selfie with all the monuments/landmarks.
INSIDE~~~~
After this shot I was told to put my camera away..ZZZZZ
Hehe still managed to get a few shots of my favourite paintings :D
Went up to explore the Musee D'orsay at levels 3 and 4.
Then I realised I was actually walking on the linkways!
See the linkways behind the big clock?
There is a human figure there, that was where I was when I took these #ootd shots :D
Shoes : @shopaggyl
Pants : Primark
Feeling satisfied, I left for Rue Cler, a "must-go" street in Paris.
Time check : 1200
Sian lor.
Nothing much and felt like it was a wasted trip.
Then again, it's okay.
#beentheredonethat
Hehe can see Eiffel Tower from here :D
Hehe so cute right
Walked towards Eiffel Tower.
If you noticed for this entire trip to London/Paris, I did not take any taxis at all and traveled via the tube and metro.
I walked a lot, approximately 20,000 steps a day (average steps per day for me in SG is about 5000) while I'm on this trip. :D
Tried to take photo with Eiffel Tower but kinda fail because the tower seemed quite blurry from the photos :(
There are too many photos of the Eiffel Tower in this entry I agree, but sua-ku me don't get to see this often, so let me fill this blog with all the memories I have of this popular landmark in Paris, ok? :D
The Eiffel Tower :
(Taken from wikipedia)
"The Eiffel Tower (French: La tour Eiffel, [tuʁ ɛfɛl]) is an iron lattice tower located on the Champ de Mars in Paris. It was named after the engineer Gustave Eiffel, whose company designed and built the tower. Erected in 1889 as the entrance arch to the 1889 World's Fair, it was initially criticised by some of France's leading artists and intellectuals for its design, but has become both a global cultural icon of France and one of the most recognizable structures in the world.[1] The tower is the tallest structure in Paris and the most-visited paid monument in the world; 6.98 million people ascended it in 2011.[2] The tower received its 250 millionth visitor in 2010."
From what I know, the Eiffel Tower was initially constructed for some World's Fair and was actually due to be taken down some 20 years later after it's contract ended.
But then it was used as some radio transmission purpose during World War so they decided to keep it.
Okay moving on~~
The best part of the day........
RIDING ON A CAROUSEL UNDER THE EIFFEL TOWER!
Might seem nothing much to you guys but means a lot to me!
The experience was magical and special.
It was cold that day (1 deg?) and as the carousel turned the wind blew so strongly in my face but I was so happy I didn't feel the cold xD
No I'm not balding, it's the lighting :P
Wheeeee~~~
Spining~~~~
Stopping :(
Stopped.
Okay time for photos spamming!!
Left the Eiffel Tower feeling satisfied, and walked to the nearest metro to head to Champs Elysees for the Christmas Market there.
It opens approximately mid Nov yearly and ends the 1st week of January.
Do find out more on google on exact dates and timing if keen as it sometimes varies according to the year.
Was told by a friend to try the choux puffs there, so while walking to the metro I saw and tried it.
Nothing special imo.
Like normal cream puffs lor.
Reached Champs Elysees and was super in need of a toilet!
And I stupidly followed the sign....
to this place =.=
At first glance I honestly thought it was some place selling basins and toilet bowls and stuffs like that, but then it was actually the..... 1.5 Euro atas toilet -.-
Wa... $3 for a piss, I think I need to spend more time here and should even #ootd here right?!
Okay la but the service not bad.
The lady who cleans this toilet wiped down the toilet bowl seat after each use and make sure it's prim and proper before the next customer.
Good experience la.
Time check : 1800
Headed to the street of Champs Elysees and towards the Christmas Market.
Shopaholics will love this area.
They have shops like Zara, HnM, Tag Heuer, Marks n Spencer, Monoprix, Sephora, Swarovski, etc.
I think their Christmas lights really go all out one.
Nicer than London's one I think!
But only this area la hahaha
My first try on Churros :D
Unfortunately... I don't really like it.
Feels like eating youtiao to me xD
They also sold many kinds of foods, like hot soups, caramalised apples, roasted meats, fudges, macarons, brownies, puddings, cakes and even hot wine. :D
Hehe so cute right that they have this fire to let you keep yourself warm in case you feel too cold xD
Cute little kiddy train :D
Stores selling Christmas gifts :D
Spotted this cute little fountain a distance away :D
Ferris wheel at the end of the Champs Elysees (:
It was a great experience at the Christmas Market.
Something that you can never see in Singapore ever.
Champs Elysees nearest metro : Champs-Élysées – Clemenceau
Headed back to the hotel after such a fruitful long day :D
PARIS DAY 3
Date : 3rd December 2014
Montmartre - Notre Dame Cathedral - Ile Saint Louis - Arc De Triomphe
Overslept and woke up only at 0900 :O
Headed out straight to Montmartre to visit the Basilica of the Sacré Cœur, the church on top of the hill.
Shops along the way sell tourist stuffs, so there's nothing much to see/shop.
Nearest metro : Abbesses
Montmartre :
(Taken from wikipedia)
"Montmartre (French pronunciation: [mɔ̃.maʁtʁ]) is a hill in the north of Paris, France. It is 130 metres high and gives its name to the surrounding district, in the 18th arrondissement, a part of the Right Bank. The historic district established by the City of Paris in 1995 is bordered by rue Caulaincourt and rue Custine on the north; rue de Clignancourt on the east; boulevard Clichy and boulevard Rochechouart to the south; and rue Caulaincourt to the on the west, containing sixty hectares.[1] Montmartre is primarily known for the white-domed Basilica of the Sacré Cœur on its summit and as a nightclub district. The other, older, church on the hill is Saint Pierre de Montmartre, which claims to be the location at which the Jesuit order of priests was founded."
I would say the carousel looked really impressive though!
The church looks really pretty on top of the hill, but I didn't go up closer to it as there were too many people.
Pretty pretty~~~
That's two very fat sparrows!
And don't they look so good?
They look super well-fed hahaha
While walking back down the street to the metro, I spotted a candy/chocolate shop and was super impressed with what I saw :D
MACARONS :D
CHOCOLATES :D
Chocolate models of some popular landmarks/monuments in Paris!
Notre Dame Cathedral
Arc De Triomphe
Eiffel Tower
Some ship that reminds me of Pirates of the Carribean xD
Time check : 1200
Next stop - Notre Damn Cathedral!
Nearest metro : Cité
Walked from the metro to Notre Dame Cathedral :D
:D
Looks like a postcard picture right? :D
The pigeon guy.
If I'm not wrong he earns by the tips from tourists when he gives them the food to feed the pigeons.
Sorry a few more lovely pics of this captivating church :D
My turn hehehe
I didn't take too many pictures for fear that it might be seen as disrespectful as there was an ongoing mass.
There was this area where they have boards showing how the church evolved from how it was before.
I thought it was impressive.
Do check it out when you are there.
Entrance for this church is free but maybe make some donation as you walk around ya (:
Shoes : @shopaggyl
Pants : Primark
Time check : 1600
Skies were starting to darken.
Headed to Ile Saint Louis (short walk from Notre Dame Cathedral with the help of Google Maps) for their highly raved berthillon ice cream.
Regretted immediately when I saw that it looked more like a restaurant and there wasn't anyone.
Hehe self-shot infront of the big-ass wall mirror :D
Loving my navy blue pleather jacket!
Really ultra super yummy!
Would be perfect if they come with waffles instead :P
Had a little chat with the restaurant owner and he treated me champagne -.-
Was a little high when I left the place but went ahead to visit the Arc De Triomphe.
Notre Dame at night (:
Walked to the metro station and purposely took a train that will pass by the Eiffel Tower as I wanted to see how it looks like at night.
Too bad I wasn't lucky enough to see it light up in sparkles :(
Back to Champs Elysees area!
(The other end; do note that champs elysees is a super long stretch of walk and many shops are located along the way. I was at the other end the previous day, and okay la just lazy to walk all the way down hahaha)
Turned my back and saw.......
Ta-da!
Okay la a bit kua zhang.
This one so big, cannot miss it right.
Hahaha
Hehehe ended my night shopping at HnM and spent all my money at the pharmacy buying some popular products from Paris.
Will be doing a haul video and posting it maybe next week if everything goes smoothly :D
Am really tight on schedule as I am taking an exam soon for upgrading purposes and also preparing for my next wander-lusting trip hehe
How about making a guess where will I be heading next? :D
Next entry : I headed back to London the next day (finally!!) and continued my adventure :P
